David Doty
Board Advisor
David Doty has been a Board Advisor to Mici since 2017 – using his 25 years of experience as an executive and franchise owner to guide Mici’s growth and preparation for franchising. After an early career as a consumer brand manager, David became the CEO of Jerry’s Restaurants in 1995. He established a master licensing agreement with Black Bear Diner and worked as Chief Marketing Officer and then Chief Strategy Officer to help build the fastest growing family dining brand in the US – with 145 locations in 15 states. David was also one of the first franchisees of Smashburger, building the most successful franchise in the country by opening 14 stores in four years and winning Franchisee of The Year in each of his four years of operation. After generating best in class Average Unit Volumes per store, David sold the franchise back to Smashburger Corporate in 2014. David’s focus has always remained centered on the people – building dynamic and resilient teams that are vital to success. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado and an MBA in Marketing and Strategic Management from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota. David spends his spare time skiing in Winter Park, CO and travelling back to his birth state of Hawaii.
